COOKIE BATTER:
1 C butter
3/4 C sugar
1 tsp almond extract
2 C flour
1/2 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp salt
GLAZE:
1/2 C powdered sugar
1 tsp almond extract
3 tsp water
food coloring of choice
sliced almonds (3 per cookie)
1- In a bowl, blend the butter, sugar, and almond extract. In a separate bowl, mix the flour, baking powder, and salt. Add the flour mixture, 2 tablespoons at a time to the butter mixture until completely combined.
2- Roll into small balls and flatten slightly. Bake for 7 minutes (they will not look done) at 400 degrees on a lightly greased pan or parchment lined pan. Cool cookies.
3- Make glaze by using an electric mixer to combine the powdered sugar, almond extract, water, and food coloring of choice
until glaze is smooth. Drizzle a spoonful of glaze on the top of cookies and press the sliced almonds into the glaze immediately after.
