Thanksgiving Green Bean Casserole

Ingredients:
2 tablespoons butter
2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon white sugar
1/2 cup onion, diced
2 garlic cloves, minced
1 heaping cup sour cream
1/2 cup chicken broth (I use more)
2 1/2 pounds fresh green beans, steamed
2 cups shredded Sharp Cheddar cheese
1/2 cup crumbled buttery round crackers
1 large bag French fried onions

Directions:
1.Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
2.Melt 2 tablespoons butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Stir in flour until smooth, and cook for one minute. Stir in the salt, sugar, onion, garlic, sour cream, and chicken broth. Add green beans, and stir to coat.  Add about a handful of the French fried onions and about 1/2 cup of the sharp cheddar cheese to the mixture and stir well.  I will keep adding chicken broth until I have just the right desired consistency.  By adding more broth, you may need to add more salt as well.
3.Transfer the mixture to a 2 1/2 quart casserole dish. Spread remaining shredded cheese and French fried onions over the top, followed by the cracker crumbs.
4.Bake for 30 minutes in the preheated oven, or until the top is golden and cheese is bubbly.
